Alyssa + Steven | Puerto Rico Film Wedding

Puerto Rico is one of my favorite places to be invited for a destination wedding.

Alyssa+ Steven reached out to me because of my film photography, and booked me because we instantly hit it off as friends. I wanted to write so much about this incredible weekend with these two, but I actually feel like their initial inquiry is the perfect thing for me to include in this post, because it’s such a beautiful summary of their love story. So in Alyssa’s words:

“Steven and I have been together for 7 years this past September. We both had our childhoods in Bayside, NY. Have you ever heard that your soulmate is supposed to be in your life orbit earlier in life? That was me at 6 years old and Steven at 4, when we used to go to the same children's aerobics place in Queens, NY. Only my parents got divorced and I moved away to the suburbs while he stayed in Queens for his whole life, until he met me. We met in Williamsburg at a bar one summer night while we were both out with friends. I had just returned from a month-long work trip and Steven was in the right place, right time for me to turn to him and strike up a conversation with a cute boy in a garden portion of the bar. I am a corporate working girl in social media and he is a blue collar guy who has amazing taste in style and is surprisingly artistic. He loves tattoos - has two sleeves - and disco music, he’s shy until you get to know him and the biggest goofball in the room when he’s around his friends, and always has a great haircut. I’m a small, bright, bubbly redhead who loves the sweet things in life. I love to laugh and have fun with friends/family and my most favorite thing to do is to hang by the beach. We have recently bought a house near the beach near Long Beach, NY and we love breezy summer nights watching the sunset as well as traveling to tropical places. We’re both half-Puerto Rican on our maternal sides, and have been to Puerto Rico 3x and have absolutely loved it. It always feels like home when we go there, from our love of the beach, to the food that tastes like our grandmas’ cooking, to the amazing architectural and gorgeous sights.”
